In Malmö, Sweden, 9-10 of May 2019 was organised the second joint workshop of the Pan Baltic Scope project activities ‘Ecosystem-based Toolbox’ and ‘Implementation of EBA in sub-basin SEA’. During the workshop we worked with 17 participants on our concepts, to guide planners through the EBA implementation and SEAs in a transboundary situation. The main question to asnwer was: ‘What tools do the planners need in their Toolbox to fulfil their tasks?’
On the way to a guidebook
We based our discussions on the results of our first workshop and the questionnaire we have carried out last autumn as well as a comprehensive analysis by the University of Gothenburg, the ‘Synthesis report on the ecosystem approach to maritime spatial planning’. Diving into several discussions about planners needs for these big topics we sharpened the outlines to get to our handbook. The working title of the upcoming handbook is ‘EBA in MSP – a SEA inclusive handbook’.
Thank you all for participating and improving our work! We are looking forward to invite you to a third workshop in the beginning of September and hope to meet you again.
